Toaster strudels…an OT's best friend

When I was on one of my fieldworks to an inpatient rehab hospital, there was a beautiful sweet girl there, who had a stroke secondary to sickle cell anemia. She had expressive aphasia and mostly communicated through nods. The ONLY thing she could say without prompting was “Toaster Strudel!!!”. It was adorable. She got that as a treat after rehab sessions, so she was highly motivated to work for that toaster strudel. 🙂

I thought about that because my friend is over reading Postsecret, and showed me a postcard where the person admitted to writing dirty words on toaster strudels with icing, when angry.:)

Today involved almost 4 hours of geriatric OT crafts  (I took tons of pics to share soon) and two doctor appointments. I didn't get home until after 8pm and I work at 9pm. Plus I had/have a bad headache that is just now starting to calm down. So for those of you I promised letters to today or promised to do something for, I'm sorry. My brain can't concentrate with this headache. 🙁 I can't wait to get into bed at midnight!!! I'll try to get to everything tomorrow, it should be a much better day.
